Customer-configured static aerosol dilution system with customised flow rate and dilution factor for specialised cleanroom, filter-test and aerosol-research applications.
Model Overview
| Model | Configuration | Primary use | Selection note |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIL 557 | Customer-specific; Customer-specific | Customer-configured static aerosol dilution system with customised flow rate and dilution factor for specialised cleanroom, filter-test and aerosol-research applications | Select DIL 557 when both the dilution factor and aerosol flow must be engineered for the application. |
Key Features
Defined and reproducible dilution
Reduces aerosol particle concentration by a specified ratio while retaining the particle-size distribution of the sampled aerosol.
Capillary and HEPA-bypass principle
A small capillary flow retains the original particle concentration while particles are removed from the larger bypass flow before both streams are recombined.
Stable operation
Designed to provide a consistent dilution ratio during changing operating conditions in cleanroom, filter-test and aerosol-measurement workflows.
No auxiliary compressed-air supply
The passive flow arrangement uses the downstream instrument or process flow, avoiding a separate dilution-air supply for normal operation.
Overpressure and underpressure capability
Suitable for integration in measurement lines that operate under positive or negative pressure within the specified counterpressure limits.
Low-maintenance construction
Uses a compact fluidic layout with a HEPA-filtered bypass and requires only routine inspection and service of the flow path and filter elements.

Applications
Verification of cleanroom test aerosols
Reduces high upstream challenge-aerosol concentrations to a range suitable for optical particle counters during cleanroom and clean-air-device testing.
Laminar-flow and safety-cabinet acceptance
Supports acceptance measurements on laminar-flow boxes, work benches, safety cabinets and smaller cleanroom installations.
Filter separation-efficiency measurement
Extends the usable concentration range of particle counters in upstream and downstream filter-efficiency measurements.
Highly concentrated aerosol analysis
Conditions concentrated aerosol samples before particle counting to reduce coincidence-related measurement errors.
Aerosol research
Provides a defined dilution stage for experimental aerosol generation, transport and particle-size-distribution studies.
Measurement-range extension
Allows particle-measurement instruments to analyse aerosol concentrations that would otherwise exceed their operating range.
